One day I'll be a magnificent butterfly
I'm having trouble deciding what story to work on for NaNoWriMo this November or if I should come up with a new idea entirely. So, to help myself, I made a list.

------
Projects in the works:

The Letters of Tray and Seine: A fantasy world falling apart and the letters exchanged between two brothers trying to save it and themselves.

I finally picked this back up and was really, really shocked by how well-written it is. ^^ That's not me bragging. That's just me going swirly-eyed over the little ninth-grade writer I somehow used to be. It's really one of the very few stories worth continuing. But it's one of those stories I need to be well-written to begin with, so I want to write it piecemeal and not all at once.

A Family Crisis: Having recently discovered his sexuality, Jacob has been waiting for the "right time" to disclose the news to his parents. His strict Catholic mom blows his plan when she catches him kissing his boyfriend one afternoon. Family crisis to follow.

This was a new idea from mid-June or so, and I've already done all of the preparatory work (character profiling, outlining, whatnot), but it won't even come close to the 50,000 word minimum.

On the Edge of Kyoto: RuroKen fanfic. Kenshin the assassin and Kaoru the prostitute meet on the edge of Kyoto. Thrown together at the closing of an era and the beginning of a darker one, they learn too much about each other and about the encroaching chaos that threatens to tip their precariously balanced lives over the edge.

Technically, according to my life-plan, I'm supposed to have already finished this one already, but Junior year did not go as expected. Not that I ever follow my plans, unfortunately. So, this would be a perfect story to work on in one month's time, but a problem remains: I have zero plot. And since I take forever to come up with a decent plotline considering my limited imagination, I'm nervous.
------

Since I've already put those three up, I might as well continue. But those three are currently the only candidates for NaNoWriMo.
Following are just random fanfics and one-shots attacking my sanity:

Aragorn's Sorrow: A LotR fanfiction that must either be renamed or be drowned in its own tears. The only other name I can think of is "Unstable Collisions." Aghhhh. I absolutely hate hate hate this fanfiction. With a passion. But I'm ridden with guilt too. I went onto my review page on FF.net earlier today and completely keeled over from the animated (demanding) reviews. Not a single brain cell in my head (or anywhere else) can fathom -what- anyone sees in that story, but I can't live with myself if I don't either finish it or take it entirely off FF.net. Besides, I have only two chapters left to go. I can suffer that long right?

Snape fanfiction: It has no title because it has no plot or characters other than, believe it or not, the illustrious Snape himself. But it's been in my head for three years and it needs to get out.

Dudley's Eating Frenzy: Dudley has a bad addiction. if I ever get to this one, it would be my first legitimate attempt at humor. Which is probably why I will never get to it. I'm too lily-livered for my own good.

Magneto fanfiction: Like the Snape one, I just like the character and want to explore. No brilliant ideas except for that. >.<

EDIT: This is the worst one right now, constantly, unrelentingly nagging at me, but I'm absolutely terrified of writing it. I feel like such a dabbling, clumsy amateur and there's just no way I could do the character(s) justice.

Fateful Encounter One Misty Morning: Likely to be retitled to "On the Road to Damascus." It's a cheesy romantic one-shot told from the perspective of a suffering teenage boy who runs out one morning and meets a girl he thinks is an angel. I've handwritten five pages and couldn't bear to continue writing it. "Dear God, this is crappy" nicely sums up my current take on it.

An unnamed original fiction: Two women, two men, and three kids. A tale of love too late to come, a pathway of broken hearts, and the regrets and sorrows that keep them all apart. A relatively new idea about two married women who fall in love and their struggle with loyalty to their husbands and kids and their love for each other. NOT inspired by Brokeback Mountain, whatever it may seem like!

I have a couple other one-shots, both original and fanfiction, swimming around, but they're too embarassing to be posted in public.
